Scotch ale tend to be big malty bombs in the 7-9% range while Scottish ales tend to be lower in alcohol and are categorized in Schillings, 60, 70, 80, the lower the number the lower the alcohol. This beer is more in the Scottish style. Pours an amber color with a big white head, smoky aroma with a nice malt backbone, some smoke in the flavor along with a slight hop bitterness. Not a bad beer, it drinks pretty nicely, would drink it again if i had to
